Have you enough money to retire?
How do you know? And what does this even mean?
Having enough money to retire means you have enough income from various sources, investments, social security, pensions, or other sources to continue living as you are today without going to, or doing, what we typically call a job. Or work.
In other words, your passive income from all other sources, after leaving your “job”, meets or exceeds the expenses you will have.
There are many factors which go into figuring this out. Luckily, you can find calculators online which help you account for all the more relevant items.
Here’s one I like: https://www.forbes.com/advisor/retirement/retirement-calculator/
If it turns out you’re coming up short on the money you’ll need, fear not. This doesn’t mean you’ll have to work hard until you drop. There are many alternative ways to make money besides the typical 9-5 job.
The”gig” economy offers many ways to make money. Driving Uber or Lyft are two well known options. Renting out extra space with AirBNB is another.
But there are also hundreds of other lesser known opportunities which offer you more control, more time freedom, and possibly more income.
Dien Rice has been seeking out these unique and interesting businesses, done by ordinary people like you and I, and writing about them for a very long time in his “Hidden Business Ideas” newsletter.
You can also get great business, or “side-hustle” ideas and marketing tips, by joining up with other opportunity minding folks, at the “Seeds of Wisdom” forum. It’s nicknamed SowPub. No hype. No smoke. Just veteran marketers sharing advice on what works. Costs nothing. Tons of free resources which can help you improve your financial condition too.
Enough. That’s a funny word right? Do we ever have enough?
There always seems to be another expense. A bill. A repair. Medical stuff. Travel opportunities. A gadget. New restaurant. Inflation. Rising prices.
How much is enough?
I’m not certain of that, regardless of what the calculator says.
I think I’ll go get s’more!
How about you?

*Note: One simple way to make extra cash is to promote other people’s products and services. It’s called affiliate marketing. In this blog post is a good example of how simple it can be. If you click on the “Hidden Business Ideas” link here or above, and subscribe to Dien’s newsletter, I could receive a percentage of the sale. A commission as it were, for referring you. And, it doesn’t change your cost at all. See. Simple. You can do it too!
Clickbank.com lists 1000’s of products you could promote and get commissions on. Amazon.com has their own a affiliate program. There are literally tons of affiliate marketing programs out there for all kinds of products and services. With a bit of knowledge and effort, these could work for you too.
